Manuel Akanji, Dortmund figure

Manuel Akanji has largely been out of the spotlight since his move from Borussia Dortmund to Manchester City in 2022.

He played 48 matches in all competitions last season. He was an important force in helping Pep Guardiola’s team win the triple championship. As for this season, he has played 16 matches before meeting Leipzig.

However, the Switzerland defender made a costly mistake that led to Leipzig’s goal.

In the 13th minute, Janis Blaswich, the visiting team’s goalkeeper, placed a long ball from the goal mouth, hoping for Openda to compete with the ทางเข้า ufabet home defence. And the Belgian national team’s offensive line defeated Akanji before slipping and shooting past the hands of Stefan Ortega.

Ruben Dias almost got a red card

Leipzig’s second goal was almost a replica of the first. It was a mistake from Manchester City, but this time it was Ruben Dias, who was voted into the Champions League team of the season last season. But he showed his weaknesses against the visitors from Germany.

The incident happened in the 33rd minute when Xabi Simons tipped the ball to Openda, which Dias initially looked like he was going to block, but he lost his angle to Openda, who then used his coolness to trick him. Asco Guardiol before shooting past Ortega again.

Dias received a yellow card in the 21st minute, making it difficult for him to play for the rest of the period. And he almost received a red card at the end of the first half when he fouled Simons. However, referee Glenn Nieberg was kind enough not to give a second yellow card, but it was against Pep Guardiola who substituted him during the break. First half, then let Nathan Ake go in instead.

Erling Haaland scores again

After missing two great opportunities to help Man City get back into the game in the first half, Haaland finally scored in the second half. Phil Foden slotted the ball in beautifully for the Norwegian striker to score. At Blaswich, you can only look.

The 23-year-old has now scored 8 goals in the last 7 matches and 18 goals in all competitions this season. Haaland is tied with Alvaro Morata and Rasmus Hojlund as the club’s top scorers. Champions League this season as well, scoring 5 goals in 5 matches in the group stage.

Interestingly, Haaland became the youngest player to score 40 goals in the Champions League. Breaking Kylian Mbappe’s record by playing just 35 games.

Jack Grealish couldn’t seize his chance

After being so sick that he was nameless in the 1-1 draw with Liverpool last Saturday, Grealish returned to the starting line-up for The Blues were once again in a low-pressure game against Leipzig, with rival Jeremie Dogu vying for his place on the bench.

Grealish has struggled to regain his form this season. He also encountered injuries from time to time, while Dogu was able to perform impressively while the English forward was not on the field. Including starting as a starter in the Premier League for the last 3 matches.

However, Grealish failed to take the opportunity to impress Guardiola as the former Aston Villa playmaker struggled to make an impact on a team that was underdogs in the first half. And it was no surprise that he was substituted in the 53rd minute to make way for Dogu.

Manchester City improved greatly after Guardiola brought on Dogu and Julian Alvarez, both of whom helped the home team turn the game around to defeat Leipzig and win the group.
